How Covet Relay verifies every pick
The publication is starting with the record behind the recommendation: identity, claims, recalls, rights, fulfillment, returns, testing, and money relationships.
A product card is a claim bundle
A recommendation is not just a name and a link. It quietly asserts that the object exists, the seller can be identified, the model is the one described, the important features are supported, the image can be used, the product is not subject to a known recall, the buyer can understand fulfillment and returns, and any money relationship is visible before the click.
Covet Relay will not call that work “personally tested” unless someone actually used the exact item and recorded the method. Documentation review is useful, but it is not hands-on experience. When an item has not been tested, the article will say so in plain language.
The minimum item record
Every candidate starts as a private record, not a draft recommendation. The record must identify the exact item or model, manufacturer, seller, direct manufacturer and retailer URLs, verification date, current fulfillment statement, return terms, each objective claim and its source, recall-search result, image source and license, personal-test status, free sample or payment, affiliate program, and last recheck date.
An incomplete record is not a softer recommendation. It is a rejection or a research task. Unidentified sellers, unclear image rights, unsupported objective claims, unresolved recalls, and unverifiable fulfillment keep an item out of the publication.
- Identity: match exact model names and variants across manufacturer and seller records.
- Claims: translate each factual feature into a sourceable statement; delete adjectives that cannot be checked.
- Safety: search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database for the brand, model, and product type.
- Rights: use original images, licensed program assets, manufacturer-approved media, or properly licensed editorial material—never a copied retailer photo.
- Commerce: record price handling, availability, shipping, returns, and the exact commercial relationship without implying permanence.
What will be excluded first
The starting categories will avoid cosmetics, supplements, medical products, child-safety products, weapons, emergency equipment, unsupported environmental claims, and questionable batteries or chargers. This does not label every item in those groups unsafe. It acknowledges that a small editorial test should not begin where substantiation, labeling, compatibility, injury, or recall stakes are highest.
The first research queue focuses on ordinary, non-safety-critical organizers, desk objects, renter-friendly light control, counter tools, non-chemical pet-hair tools, travel organizers, and giftable single-purpose objects. Each exact item still has to pass its own record.
How money appears on the page
No commercial relationship means exactly that for the stated item at the verification time. If a later article uses a commissionable link, the disclosure will appear before the first monetized link: “We may earn a commission if you buy through links in this post, at no extra cost to you. That relationship does not decide what we include.”
A gifted item will say the brand provided it free and did not pay for coverage. A paid section will begin with PAID PLACEMENT and name the payer. An Eleven Wildcards product will be labeled as owned. A disclosure page cannot rescue an unlabeled recommendation; the relationship belongs beside the relevant material.
The pre-affiliate gate
Covet Relay will publish ten original, public articles before applying pressure to monetize the archive. Affiliate accounts, if later approved, do not retroactively turn earlier independent articles into advertisements. Each monetized link must be mapped to the approved program and checked under its current terms.
The evidence standard also protects the reader from false precision. Prices and availability change. Unless an approved program supplies the data with its required timing and disclaimer, an article should avoid manually presenting a supposedly current marketplace price. The article can explain selection criteria and tradeoffs without pretending a volatile number is permanent.
This first issue is the control document. The next articles must show the record in practice, and the economics gate will remain open until real qualified clicks, acceptance or rejection by affiliate programs, reversals, earnings, and cash costs can be measured.
